Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

International students who have just finished two years of study at an Australian university are eligible to reside and work in Australia for a period of time ranging from 18 months to four years with the 485 Visa.

This visa is just transitory. The primary candidate must have had an eligible student visa within six months before filing for a 485 visa and must be in Australia at the time of application.

Right now, The Visa is offering 485 candidates a fantastic deal: if you enrol in a full-time study with us, we will submit your 485 application at no cost to you. Our knowledgeable staff will accurately prepare your application.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY

You must:

  • Be under 50 years of age
  • Hold an eligible visa
  • Have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course

COMMON REQUIREMENTS

  • Age: At the time of filing, the primary applicant must be under 50.
  • English: The primary candidate must prove their proficiency in the language by passing an English proficiency exam or by possessing a specific kind of passport. Proof of threshold English must be used on the filing date.
  • Study in Australia:  Within six months of submitting your visa application, you must have fulfilled the two-year study requirement and finished your qualifications.
  • Point Test: There is no point test for the Temporary Graduate subclass 485 visa.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS

The new English requirements for both the Post Study Work Stream and Graduate Work Stream are as follows:

  • Hold a passport from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada or New Zealand; or
  • IELTS (Academic or General Training): overall average of 6 and at least 5 in each band; or
  • Occupational English Test (OET): B Pass in each band; or
  • Pearson (PTE Academic): overall average of 50 with at least 36 in each band; or
  • TOEFL iBT (Internet Based Test): total score of 64, with at least 4 in Listening and Reading, and at least 14 in Writing and Speaking; or
  • Cambridge (CAE): 169 overall average with at least 154 in each band.

This represents a significant lowering of the English language requirement and will be a great relief to applicants who have struggled to meet the minimum score required in each band.
